Platres, Cyprus (Limassol District): A Marvelous Mountain Resort

Platres, Cyprus…

What a marvelous mountain resort!

Platres is a mountainous, picturesque, quaint village located in the Troodos mountain range in the Limassol district.

What a majestic place, what a wonderful experience to explore the village and the surrounding area which is steeped in green scenery!

Every time we visit Platres we have a fantastic time! Whether we book a room to stay or it’s a day trip we always enjoy our time in this wonderful village. Platres is no disappointment! :-)

Most probably you figured it out by now that we love it there! :-) Indeed, Platres is one of our favorite villages in the Limassol district…

…and that’s why it made it on our list of the Top 5 places to visit in Limassol. :-)

Why do we like Platres so much, you ask?

There are several reasons we love visiting this picturesque village in Troodos with the fresh mountain air. Some of them are…

  • The stunning nature trails (we love hiking, we love nature!)
  • The beautiful waterfalls (Platres has one of the highest waterfalls on the island – the Kalidonia (Caledonia) waterfall)
  • The spectacular mountain views (beautiful view points)
  • The amusement rope park (Sparti Adventure Park Cafe)
  • The Chocolate Workshop – Cyprus Chocolate (we buy our chocolates from there :-) )
  • The lovely architecture (quaint hotels – we love traditional buildings!)
  • The wonderful nearby Troodos Ski Resort
  • The wine tasting and the delicious local traditional food

What’s the best season to visit, you ask?

Platres is offered for all seasons. Whether it’s winter, autumn, spring or summer you will definitely enjoy the nature the village is built among, the mountain views (wonderful viewpoints), the tranquility of a mountain resort (that’s Platres! :-) ), the “white” mountains during the winter season (snow is all over the place :-) ) and so on.

Please note that during the summer season – June, July and August – Platres is a very popular holiday destination, especially among the locals. Let’s say it’s more “alive” than the other seasons. That shouldn’t stop you from visiting it during the other months.

Take it from us, that we visit Platres almost every year – no matter what the season is.

Although Cyprus is a Mediterranean, sunny island during the winter time we get to have snow in the Troodos mountains

…and that’s why the island is famous for combining both sea and mountains. Within 30 to 40 minutes drive (depending on the traffic) from the coast you will arrive to the mountains of the island in no time.

Troodos mountains are offered not only during winter time but also during the summer season. So whether you are visiting during winter or summer you will find our mountains spectacular and intriguing!

So, including this beautiful village/resort in your itinerary is a wonderful idea! You will have a great time there! It’s well worth it! :-)
