About Pissouri, Limassol

Pissouri combines both sea and mountains. It’s an amazing experience to visit this wonderful resort since you can explore the picturesque village – built on a beautiful hillside – and visit Pissouri Bay where you can swim in the crystal clear blue waters of the Mediterranean sea.

Pissouri village is located in the Limassol district (between Larnaca district and Paphos district), just 3 km from Cape Aspro.

Aspro (Greek) means White.

Pissouri is well known locally for its Cyprus cheese (halloumi) and for its sweet and seedless green grapes called Sultanina.

Once a small village, nowadays Pissouri has been developed into an amazing tourist resort! Although it’s located in the Limassol district, it remains away from the buzz of the city…

…and that’s one reason we love to visit Pissouri!...

…tranquility!

...Tranquility at its best, unless it’s the peak season (summer months of June, July and August) where many locals (and visitors of the island) visit Pissouri Bay for their holidays. In this case, you might get a bit of “Pissouri buzz” but you will still have tranquil holidays if you compare it with the buzz of the city of Limassol.

During the Medieval times, the village of Pissouri was a small port from where carobs were exported.

Nowadays, the preserved stone-built carob warehouses have been converted into residences and restaurants.

How to Get to Pissouri, Limassol

Before we talk about the directions to Pissouri, we would like to note that this wonderful village is located in the Limassol district between Larnaca Airport (LCA) and Paphos Airport (PFO) – flights to Cyprus.

Pissouri in Limassol – although located between the Larnaca district and the Paphos district – is closer to Paphos Airport. Please take it into account when booking your air ticket and taxi transfer from and to the airport.

To check out the taxi fares from each airport visit this trustworthy website…

Book your Cyprus Airport Transfer

After you decide in which airport you will land (either Larnaca or Paphos Airport), it’s time to think whether you will rent a car. If you wish to have a rental car for your holidays on the island – which is an excellent idea – check out…

CarRentalNet

So now that you have a rental car it’s time for the road directions…

From Paphos Airport:

Take the motorway and head towards Limassol (the road sign says Lemesos).

Lemesos (Greek) = Limassol (English)

At some point when you enter the Limassol district and before you reach the city of Limassol you will see a road sign indicating which route/exit to follow to reach Pissouri.

So follow the road signs towards Limassol at first and then the road sign to Pissouri. It’s easy to get there, so no worries.

From Larnaca Airport:

Take the motorway and head towards Limassol.

Lemesos (Greek) = Limassol (English) – please note that the road sign says “Lemesos” instead of Limassol.

You will drive through the city of Limassol. Follow the motorway road signs towards Paphos (Pafos in Greek). Just before you reach the Paphos district, you will see a road sign – on your left – saying “Pissouri”. Take that exit and head towards Pissouri. It’s an easy drive.

Important Note: If you compare air ticket prices and you find that there are air tickets to Larnaca Airport (LCA – the largest airport on the island) cheaper than air tickets to Paphos Airport (PFO), don’t book it yet!

Before you do, please take into account the following…

…Although Pissouri is located between the two districts of Larnaca and Paphos, it’s closer to Paphos Airport. Therefore, the taxi fare from Paphos Airport to Pissouri is lower than the taxi fare from Larnaca Airport to Pissouri.

So even if you find a cheaper air ticket to Larnaca Airport, you might want to book an air ticket to Paphos Airport.

Why?

Because Paphos Airport is closer to Pissouri – hence lower taxi fare for your transfer from Paphos Airport to your accommodation in Pissouri.

In other words…

…if you add the taxi fare from Paphos Airport to Pissouri (Limassol district) with the air ticket to Paphos Airport and compare the sum with the sum of the taxi fare from Larnaca Airport to Pissouri plus the Larnaca air ticket, most probably you will find out that the sum of the Paphos air ticket plus the taxi fare to Pissouri resort is much lower than the Larnaca air ticket plus the taxi fare to Pissouri.

So plan carefully…

…when you compare air ticket prices take into account the taxi fares from the Airports to the resort you are planning to visit. To see how much is the airport taxi fares from Paphos/Larnaca Airport to Pissouri resort click the link below to get a quote…

Book your Cyprus Airport Transfer

…Or visit Paphos airport transfers or Larnaca airport transfers for more information.

Also, please note that if you are planning to rent a car and the pickup location is Larnaca Airport it will take you about 1 hour – depending on the traffic – to get to Pissouri resort in the Limassol district. But if the pickup location is the Paphos Airport it will take you about 25 minutes – again depending on the traffic – to arrive in Pissouri.

So before you book your air tickets and rental car take into account all of the above.

Pissouri, Limassol: Getting Around

If you book to stay in Columbia Beach Resort (see above “Pissouri, Limassol: Accommodation”) the beach from there is within walking distance.

However, if you wish to explore the area of Pissouri – for example the village – you might need to rent a car or get a taxi.

If you decide to rent a car (car rentals in Cyprus), then it’s an excellent idea to tour/explore the Paphos district and more of the Limassol district – since Pissouri is located in Limassol.

Furthermore, you might want to check out Cyprus Routes to find some amazing, picturesque routes to follow with your car for a splendid day out!

If a rental car is not within your budget, then consider exploring the area of Pissouri on foot or by taxi – if walking is not your kind of thing. :-)
