About Peyia, Paphos (Cyprus)

A few words about this beautiful town in the Paphos district…

Peyia was a small village back in the days. With the property development in Paphos it blossomed into a wonderful tourist resort, very famous among the British. Coral Bay resort is part of Peyia Municipality and is one of the most popular resorts on the island.

The most famous beaches in Peyia are Coral bay and Laourou (Corallia) beach which they are about 10 minutes away by car from the centre of the town of Peyia. Also, Maniki (Kafizis) beach is another wonderful small beach in Peyia that worth a visit.

There are quite a few things to do and see in Peyia, like swimming, visiting the famous Fountains of Peyia, going for a picnic and so on.

But let’s see in detail what you can do and see in Peyia in Paphos…


Fountains of Peyia

You can visit the Fountains of Peyia (Vrisi ton Pegiotisson in Greek) which were built in 1907 and it was the main source of drinkable water of the village until 1956.


Swimming, Sunbathing and Snorkeling

Soak under the sun during the summer in one the most beautiful sandy beaches in Paphos and on the island generally... the blue flag beach of Coral Bay.

Maniki (Kafizis) and Laourou (Corallia) are another two beaches that worth a visit. They are amazing!



Coral Bay Resort

If you are staying in Coral Bay area then access to the famous beach of Coral Bay is easy. You can get there either by bicycle, by bus, by car or on foot.


Pykni Forest Picnic Site

Have a picnic in Pykni Forest picnic site. There you can find designated places to cook your barbecue; you will also find toilets, tables and drinking water.


Sea Caves

Explore the sea caves at the seafront of Peyia.

Visit the Botanical Park at Palaiomonastiro.

Ayios Georgios

Visit the archaeological site (ruins) of Ayios Georgios and the Harbor. The beach there is fantastic! Also, make sure you stay until the sunset which is a wonderful experience. The colors of the Mediterranean Sea are so beautiful!

Whenever we want to eat local barbeque food we visit Geitonia. Delicious quality food, great service, nice atmosphere. 5/5 stars from us.


Please note that there are restaurants that are closed for the winter season. So check before you go if the restaurant you wish to visit is open. It will save you the trouble…and money if you are hiring a taxi or getting a bus.

How to Get to Peyia, Paphos (Cyprus)

The nearest airport to Peyia is Paphos (Pafos) International Airport (PFO). Visit flights to Cyprus to check out air ticket prices.

You can get to Peyia from Paphos Airport either by renting a car (car rentals in Cyprus) or by taking a taxi.

If you decide to get a taxi, there are taxis outside the airport, but if you don’t want to wait in the queue you can pre-book your airport transfer. For more information on pre-booking your transfer visit Paphos airport transfers.


Peyia, Paphos (Cyprus): Getting Around

If you are going to stay at Coral Bay area please note that most of the restaurants, taverns, bars, pubs, cafes, lounges, kiosks are within walking distance. If walking is not your thing, then you can get a bus. There are buses from Peyia that go to other villages and to Kato Paphos too.

You won’t need a car…

…unless you wish to explore the Paphos district – not just Coral Bay resort or Peyia. Then you will need to rent a car.
