Archaeological Treasures

Paphos city is well known for its archaeological treasures including Kato Paphos Archaeological Park (also known as Nea Paphos Archaeological Site), Tombs of the Kings and Paphos Castle (the city has been inhabited since the Neolithic period).

The Archaeological Park of Kato Paphos includes four well-preserved Roman villas with impressive mosaic floors (the house of Dionysos, the house of Theseus, the house of Aion and the house of Orpheus), the Odeon Amphitheater, the Agora, the Asklepieion, the Saranta Kolones (Forty Columns) Castle, the Limeniotissa ruins of an Early Christian Basilica and the Tombs of the Kings.

Mythology

Paphos is part of Greek mythology, as it is known for being the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty.

The myth of Aphrodite’s birth takes us to the Aphrodite's Rock or Petra tou Romiou (in Greek) where it is said that she risen from the foam of the sea.


Akamas Peninsula

The Akamas Peninsula is a protected nature reserve. It has – among others – diverse flora and fauna, stunning landscapes, hiking trails, the famous blue lagoon beach and the Baths of Aphrodite.


Coral Bay

Coral Bay is well known for its wonderful sandy beach with crystal clear waters. It’s famous among the visitors because it’s great for swimming, sunbathing, and doing water sports.


Polis Chrysochous (Polis) And Latchi

Polis is famous for its town square, its camping site and nearby archaeological sites, while Latchi is a small fishing village with a picturesque harbor, full of taverns and a wonderful pebbled beach.


Troodos Mountains

Wineries

Paphos is renowned for its famous wine of Xynisteri and Maratheftiko. It is recommended to rent a car or book a wine tasting tour to explore wineries and vineyards in beautiful scenic locations.

Try Tsangarides winery (Lemona village), Kolios winery (about one kilometer outside Statos-Ayios Fotios village, towards the Chrysorrogiatissa monastery in Paphos) and Vasilikon Winery (Kathikas village).
