Finikoudes Promenade and Finikoudes Beach

Finikoudes means palm trees.

This famous waterfront area with its popular beach is a must-visit attraction in Larnaca city.

The promenade is full of bars, cafes, restaurants, pubs where you can stroll alongside the beach and admire the Mediterranean Sea...or…

…you can put on your swimming suit and sun cream and enjoy sunbathing on the beach of Finikoudes (which is located along the promenade) or swimming in the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. The beach of Finikoudes is a sandy beach with shallow waters which makes it perfect for kids.

Larnaca Marina

It’s located at the beginning of the Finikoudes promenade where you will find fishing boats and yachts. It’s a charming Marina, where it’s a good place to enjoy a stroll or a meal by the water.


Larnaca Castle

This 12th century castle is located on the seafront where the promenade of Finikoudes is.


Attractions

Apart from the castle of Larnaca and the Marina, check out Hala Sultan Tekke, the Salt Lake, Saint Lazarus church, Kamares Aqueduct, Larnaca Archaeological museum and Choirokitia Archaeological Site (Neolithic Settlement).

Hala Sultan Tekke is an Islamic shrine and mosque and it’s located on the shore of the Salt Lake.

Larnaca Salt Lake is a unique ecosystem for migratory birds like flamingos during the winter months. The lake is next to Hala Sultan Tekke.

Saint Lazarus church is a 9th century Byzantine-style church which houses Saint Lazarus’ tomb. It’s a beautiful church located in its own square in the town centre. It belongs to the Church of Cyprus, an autocephalous Greek Orthodox Church.

Kamares Aqueduct is an impressive structure. During the Ottoman period, they were supplying the city water by using the aqueduct.

The Larnaca Archaeological museum exhibits artifacts from Larnaca district, including items from the Roman and Neolithic period.

Choirokitia Archaeological Site (Neolithic Settlement) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998. It’s a well-preserved settlement from the Neolithic Age.
