If you visit Kato Paphos (which is highly recommended) you will realize that modern meets old. This contrast says it all about Kato Paphos. You will love it there!
Specifically in Kato Paphos you will find…
In this archaeological park you will find four well-preserved Roman villas with mosaic floors (the famous mosaics of Paphos), the Odeon, the Agora, the Asklepieion, the Saranta Kolones (Forty Columns) Castle – what is left of it, the Limeniotissa ruins of an Early Christian Basilica and the Tombs of the Kings.
The Tombs are carved out of solid rock and were used to bury high ranking officials and aristocracy – not Kings. These Tombs are also included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and are part of the Nea Pafos Archaeological Site (Kato Paphos Archaeological Park).
The locality was named Tombs of the Kings – although, as mentioned above, it was the burial place of aristocracy and high ranking officials – because of the size and splendor of the Tombs, which some are decorated with Doric pillars.
These attractions are all located within walking distance and they are outside the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park.
Stroll around the harbor, the castle and the promenade during a summer afternoon while the sun is going down and you won’t regret it! It’s a wonderful experience.
Many locals like to do that, while enjoying their favorite local ice cream or while having a meal at one of the taverns alongside the harbor or alongside the promenade.
