Finikoudes (also spelled Phinikoudes) means palm trees and this is where the area got its name from…from the palm trees lined along the avenue.
The promenade, the beach, the strip, the Marina and the Pier, the Castle and the accommodation are all within walking distance and are located along the Larnaca city’s seafront.
The promenade and the strip of restaurants, taverns, bars, cafes, pubs and lounges are located alongside the Finikoudes beach. The promenade is in the middle of the beach and the strip.
Also, the area of Finikoudes is about 15 minutes away by car from the largest legal airport of the island…the Larnaca International Airport (LCA)…and a very short drive from Mackenzie beach area.
In the area of Finikoudes you will find the beach, the promenade, the strip of restaurants, taverns, cafes, bars, pubs and lounges, the Marina and Pier, the Castle (Fort) and other nearby attractions and accommodation. All in one location, all within walking distance!
Also, the area is wheelchair-friendly with flat paths and ramps leading to the beach.
It’s a year round place. So you can visit during summer, winter, autumn and spring.
During daytime in the summer, you can relax and sunbathe on the beach or have a dip in the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.
You can also explore the nearby shops and attractions like Larnaca Marina and the Castle and enjoy a nice meal while admiring the sea views.
During the evening, the promenade and the strip come alive with lights and music. They are the perfect place for an evening walk or a late afternoon walk when the sun goes down. The colors of the Mediterranean Sea are beautiful during the sunset!
During the summer, it can get really hot (sometimes over 40 Celsius). So bring with you a bottle of water, or buy one from the nearby shops, a hat and sun cream.
For the visitors who are renting a car please note that there is a parking lot available nearby, but it can get busy during peak hours, like midday and evening. So plan accordingly.
For a more tranquil experience, since Finikoudes is a bustling area, try to visit early morning or early evening.

There are quite a few things to do as long as you have time, because it’s more than just strolling the Promenade.
So…let’s start!
Also spelled Phinikoudes, this is a blue flag, sandy beach known for its shallow, crystal clear waters. It’s a family-friendly beach where children can enjoy their day out with their parents.
The beach has sunbeds and umbrellas and during summer there are lifeguards on duty. Also, there are nearby showers, restrooms and changing areas.
Stroll the promenade early morning or evening and admire the colorful Mediterranean Sea. The sunrise and sunset are wonderful in this part of the island.
In the promenade, apart from walking, you can also jog, cycle or sit on one of the benches and relax.
With its family-friendly atmosphere, the promenade is perfect for families who would like to stroll along the beach – since the promenade is located alongside the beach – and admire the sea views. Evening walks are a common tradition for local families.
We remember when we were little kids, our parents used to take us to Finikoudes to walk the promenade and after enjoy an ice cream. What a wonderful memory! :-)
Especially during the summer time, the promenade hosts festivals and cultural events like the Larnaca Kataklysmos Festival (Festival of the Flood).

We must admit we do love Lebanese food!
If you have already tasted our Greek-Cypriot food (and we hope you liked it! :-) ) and you want to try something different you will absolutely love this Lebanese place. So it might not be Cypriot cuisine, but this Lebanese restaurant is well worth a visit!

Please note that there are restaurants that are closed for the winter season. So check before you go if the restaurant you wish to visit is open. It will save you the trouble.
Finikoudes is about 15 minutes away by car from the largest legal airport on the island…Larnaca International Airport (LCA).

You can rent a car, book a taxi or take a bus to get to the area of Finikoudes.
Either way you will get there in no time as the Larnaca airport is close to the area.
If you are renting a car follow the road signs to Larnaca city center. Don’t forget that Finikoudes is also spelled Phinikoudes.
You can explore Finikoudes on foot. All major attractions, shops, the beach and food establishments are within walking distance…except the Salt Lake and Hala Sultan Tekke.
If you wish to visit the Salt Lake and the Hala Sutlan Tekke which is adjacent to the Salt Lake, you will need a car. Either hire a taxi or rent a car.
Also, there are buses and taxis in the area that you can use for your transport.
