Greek-Cypriots live in the South, the Greek-Cypriot side of the island.
They form the bigger part of the population in Cyprus. Our language is Greek and we also speak the Cypriot Greek dialect which is a dialect of the Greek language. English is widely spoken too.
The southern part of Cyprus is mesmerizing. It’s steeped in history (see UNESCO archaeological sites and brief history of the island), it has beautiful forests, scenic routes, attractive quaint villages with panoramic views (pretty like a picture), beautiful monasteries and UNESCO churches, lovely wineries (Cyprus produces the oldest wine in the world called Commandaria – sweet wine), stunning blue flag sandy and pebbled beaches, excellent weather conditions and the list goes on.
It is much more interesting to visit the Greek-Cypriot part of the island – not only because of the above reasons – but also because the South has something for everyone. In addition, there are more things to do and see, therefore more of a pleasant time for you.
