Cyprus Travel by The Locals gives you a “taste” of the local life of this beautiful Mediterranean island every month. Surrounded by the amazing blue Mediterranean Sea and the wonderful sandy beaches, Cyprus is the island to be for your holidays! Zygi Village, Cyprus: The Best Place to Eat Fresh Fish in LarnacaWe’ve been to Zygi village (Cyprus) countless times – since we were kids – because we love it!Zygi is a small coastal, fishing village in the Larnaca district in the island of Cyprus. There you can find taverns/restaurants serving fresh seafood, enjoy the Mediterranean views, soak under the sun in the small sandy beach of the village and in the evening you can enjoy the beautiful sunset while eating your favorite local ice cream. It’s a wonderful experience to visit Zygi…and that’s why we have decided to write about it. 
The fish taverns and the locals are welcoming and the sea, inviting!
We love to enjoy a meal next to the sea, breathing the sea air and enjoying the Mediterranean views…and if we are in the mood we also take a dip in the sea. What else could we ask for?! :-) 
There are lots of great fish taverns/restaurants in Zygi that we have tried over the years. One of our favorites is Santa Elena Fish Restaurant, located in the heart of this small fishing village next to the church.
Delicious seafood, fast service and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere too! If you decide to visit this fish restaurant we recommend you order the fish meze (various small seafood dishes). It’s delicious! Please note that during the weekends (especially in the summer months of June, July and August) this restaurant is full of locals and visitors. So if you want to avoid the buzz you can visit during the week. It will be much nicer…and quieter. :-) 
When you finish your meal you can stroll around the Marina of the village where there are small fishing boats and enjoy the Mediterranean views.
If you are visiting this small wonderful fishing village in the evening you will be fascinated by the views of the Mediterranean Sea, especially when the moon reflects on the sea. It’s an amazing experience!
Zygi Square…this is where we sit in the afternoons enjoying a nice local ice cream and looking at the Marina of Zygi while the sun goes down. 
Below is the wonderful small sandy beach of Zygi. This is where we take a dip during the hot summers. :-)
So if you wish to have a relaxing day on the beach, sunbathe under the hot sun, take a dip in the Mediterranean Sea, have a wonderful delicious seafood meal at one of the fish taverns/restaurants and later as a dessert, try the local ice cream, then Zygi village in Cyprus is the place to be!
Please note that the fish taverns/restaurants, the beach, the Marina and the Square are all within walking distance. It might be a small fishing village but it’s well worth a visit!
